About the Course
Have you ever noticed that students can recognise a musical note but still struggle to perform its rhythm correctly? That is because understanding rhythm is more than memorising the names and values of notes. Students need to hear it, say it, feel it and practise it. That is exactly what Fruit Rhythm Course 1 is designed to do.
Each rhythm pattern is connected to a familiar word or fruit name. The syllables of the word help students understand how the rhythm is divided. For example:🍋 LE-MON,🍉 WATER-ME-LON,🥑 A-VO-CA-DO,🥥 CO-CO-NUT,🫐 BLUE-BER-RY,🍊 O-RANGE,🥒 CU-CUM-BER,🫚 GIN-GER
Students don’t simply look at a rhythm pattern—they say it, clap it and practise it. The course starts with basic rhythm concepts and progressively introduces more combinations of notes and rests, allowing students to build their rhythmic understanding step by step.

What You’ll Learn
Basic Note & Rest Recognition
You will become more familiar with common rhythmic notes and rests and understand how they function within a rhythm. You will also learn that rhythm is not only about playing notes. Rests are an important part of music too.
Clapping Rhythms
You will practise clapping rhythm patterns while maintaining a steady beat. By clapping along and repeating the patterns, you will begin to develop a more natural sense of timing.
Saying Rhythms Using Fruit Names
You will use familiar words such as LE-MON, WATER-ME-LON, A-VO-CA-DO and BLUE-BER-RY to make different rhythmic patterns easier to say, remember and reproduce.
Understanding Rhythm Subdivision
You will learn how a beat can be divided into smaller parts and how different notes can fit within the same beat while keeping the underlying pulse steady.
Understanding Rests Within Rhythms
You will practise rhythm patterns that include silence and learn how to keep counting and feeling the beat even when you are not producing a sound.
Developing a Steady Sense of Pulse
You will learn to maintain a consistent beat while saying and clapping different rhythm patterns, helping you build a stronger foundation for accurate musical performance.
Combining Different Rhythmic Values
You will move from simpler patterns to combinations of different note values, rests and rhythmic groupings, helping you become more confident when you encounter unfamiliar rhythms in music.
Why This Course Works
Fruit Rhythm Course 1 is built around a simple idea: If students can say the rhythm, they can begin to feel the rhythm. Traditional rhythm teaching can sometimes feel very abstract, especially for children and beginners. A page filled with unfamiliar musical symbols can be difficult to understand when students have not yet developed an internal sense of rhythm.
Fruit Rhythm changes the way students approach these patterns. Instead of seeing a group of notes as something they have to memorise, students can connect the pattern to a familiar word.
LE-MON.
GIN-GER.
CO-CO-NUT.
BA-NA-NA.
They can say the word, clap the pattern and repeat it until the rhythm becomes familiar.
The course therefore encourages students to:
SEE → SAY → CLAP → FEEL → REPEAT
This makes rhythm practice more interactive and gives students a practical way to develop rhythmic confidence.

My passion for teaching goes beyond helping students play the piano. I am particularly passionate about helping students develop a strong understanding of rhythm, music theory, sight-reading, and practical musicianship—skills that form the foundation of confident musical performance.
Through my teaching approach, I continue to help students overcome the fear and confusion often associated with music theory and rhythm, replacing it with clarity, confidence, and practical understanding.
My goal is simple: to make music easier to understand and help every student discover that they are capable of becoming a confident musician.

Course Goal
The goal of Fruit Rhythm Course 1 is to help students develop a strong and practical understanding of rhythm in a way that is simple, memorable and enjoyable. We want students to move beyond simply memorising the names of notes. We want them to understand what the rhythm sounds like, feels like and looks like.
